At the Smart City Expo in Barcelona, LVB presented Leipzig’s approach to autonomous driving and demonstrated how ABSOLUT and Flexa are shaping mobility.

Autonomous Driving from Leipzig on a Global Stage
-------------------------------------------------

In November 2024, Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB) took part in the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona to present innovative projects for autonomous driving in Leipzig. The expo is one of the leading global platforms for smart city development, digitalization, and future mobility solutions.

ABSOLUT: Autonomous Shuttles for Public Transport
-------------------------------------------------

At the joint booth of the Saxony Economic Development Corporation, LVB presented ABSOLUT, a project developing a complete system for autonomous driving in public transport. The goal is to deploy driverless shuttles that can be booked on-demand, providing flexible and sustainable mobility in suburban areas for Leipzig’s residents.

Flexa: On-Demand Mobility Already in Service
--------------------------------------------

Alongside ABSOLUT, Flexa was also showcased – the on-demand service that is already providing flexible and needs-based transport in Leipzig’s suburban areas. Together, the projects demonstrate how Leipzig is shaping the transition towards a digital, efficient, and climate-friendly public transport system.

Fresh Impulses for the Future of Mobility

Together with the City of Leipzig’s Digital City Department, LVB presented the region’s innovative strength to an international audience. Exciting discussions, valuable contacts, and new inspiration will now flow into the continued development of ABSOLUT and Flexa.
