As part of the research and development project ABSOLUT II – Autonomous Driving in Public Transport, Deputy Project Manager Manuel Meyer was invited to speak at the Autonomous Vehicle and Public Transport Conference in South San Francisco, California. His contribution addressed key topics related to autonomous mobility in public passenger transport.
The conference is widely regarded as an important international platform for exchanging insights on innovative solutions and challenges surrounding driverless mobility and its integration into public transport. Experts from industry, research, and the public sector came together to discuss current issues shaping future mobility – ranging from regulatory frameworks and technological advancements to real-world pilot applications.
Manuel Meyer’s participation focused on a presentation outlining the strategy of Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe and providing an overview of the ABSOLUT II project. In addition to highlighting technical aspects of autonomous systems in public transport, the presentation emphasized the importance of collaboration with international partners and the value of interdisciplinary dialogue in advancing autonomous public mobility.
Together with experts from various countries, Manuel Meyer contributed to the session “Global Perspectives on Autonomous Vehicles”, presenting current developments and challenges beyond the U.S. context. The conference provided valuable impulses for the further progress of the project and opened up new opportunities for cross-border knowledge and experience exchange.
Special thanks go to the organizers AV America and Global Mass Transit for the invitation and the inspiring discussions on site – a clear reminder of how essential international networking is in jointly shaping the mobility of the future.
With this successful presentation at the AV Conference, the ABSOLUT II consortium further strengthens its position in the international dialogue and provides new momentum for the continued development of autonomous vehicles in public transport.
